LOGISTICS for LEVEL 2 CLASS

Where: Berkeley Fellowship of Unitarian Universalists Education Building, 1606 Bonita Ave at Cedar in Berkeley

When: 6:30-8pm PST on five consecutive Thursdays October 17th - November 14th (Zooming is a possibility, please inquire).

ABOUT THE CLASS

I teach in the Ren Xue system. Level 2 includes the Theory of Shen/Consciousness and the Third and Fourth methods (practices) of the system, Ren Yuan and Xia Yuan respectively. There are 9 methods in all. Methods three and four build upon the Qi-gathering and -storing methods of Level 1, and use the Consciousness and Qi to work directly on the musculoskeletal and organ systems.

Level 1 is a pre-requisite for this class, as the levels of the system build upon each other. If you have not taken Level 1 with me or another Ren Xue teacher, please consider taking my Level 1 class starting Sept 12th.

It is important to attend every session. We will do some Qigong in every class, and the first session will be the most lecture-heavy in order to set the conceptual groundwork. From there, we will start learning and then practicing the methods. You will complete this series knowing the forms. If you have any specific learning needs, or feel strongly about joining but have a conflict, please reach out to me and we’ll see what’s possible. The practices are scalable in speed and length. They can be done effectively in 15-20 minutes each, and practicing occasionally can have noticeable positive impacts on life. However, the maximum benefits come with a practice of 45 minutes or more each day. The methods are designed as standing forms, but the key to Qigong is learning to direct Qi with the Consciousness, so everybody can learn and practice these methods regardless of physical ability.
